Thunder City Expands Operational
Fleet with Third Buccaneer
A third BAe Buccaneer has joined the Thunder City operational
fleet from the UK. This exciting addition to the collection
of operational aircraft at Thunder City, Cape Town is part
of an expansion programme to increase the number of twin seater
aircraft available for flying passengers. The BAe Buccaneers
are the world’s only flying examples.

Mike Beachy Head, CEO and chief pilot
at Thunder City says, “After all the test flights were
successfully completed in the UK by BAe Systems’ test
pilot Keith Hartley, the Buccaneer XW986 began its ferry flight
to Cape Town on 4th August. Ian Pringle’s Buccaneer, registration
ZU-NIP will join our two other BAe Buccaneers, making up the
only three airworthy aircraft of this type in the world today.”
Beachy Head adds that the new arrival will boost the operational
squadron to 15 aircraft, with another twin seater English Electric
Lightning and a Hawker Hunter being added within the next couple
of months. Both of these aircraft are being rebuilt at Thunder
City. The public will be able to view the final rebuilding phase,
when the two jets are moved into a special new reconstruction
and maintenance bay at the operational hangar.

| Executives Reach for the Sky |
|
Executives are coming to Thunder City, Cape Town, from all over
the world, to fly in ex-combat military jets, as part of an
avant-garde executive leadership programme.
Mike Beachy Head, CEO and chief pilot of Thunder City, which
has the world’s largest civilian-operated jet squadron,
says: "We have invested millions in our operational capabilities
and have, in the process, established an impeccable record,
illustrating the esteem in which our aeronautical capabilities
in South Africa are held internationally.”
"As a result of this experience, and by recognising and
exploiting the synergies between flying fast combat jets, and
piloting a fast lane corporation, we have been able to develop
a programme that catapults the executive decision-maker into
a challenge-and-reward environment utterly foreign, yet totally
appropriate to their future at the controls of business.”
“We have developed a ground-breaking approach to experiential
leadership education, to be presented internationally as Executive
Flight Path to senior executives."
Beachy Head continues, " In the six days that you participate
in EFP, you will have a highly
personalised opportunity to engage in a powerful experiential
leadership process.
The programme is designed to challenge and stimulate the thinking
of each participant, centred on issues of leadership. Delegates
personally fly sorties in each of three classes of fighter jets,
and are presented with a number of relevant business related
leadership issues for each sortie.”
